During lockdown in Berlin when I could not travel, I utilized Google Earth to paint remote sites such as Antarctica while using the platform to investigate how landscapes are mediated through machine perception and viewed from a cosmic vantage. Inspired by American Romantic landscape painting, my work explores the tension between nature and industrialization. The voids reference gaps in satellite image mosaics, symbolizing sites that remain inaccessible to me both physically and digitally.
